Lateral thinking – what is it? The term was coined by Edward DEBONO in 1967. Somewhere along the way have been part of the English language (is in Oxford English Dictionary and others now). DEBONO says there are several ways to define.
Lateral thinking is a way to attack problems from different angles, in contrast to the more traditional linear and logical. DEBONO uses chess as an example of the latter, where logic is usually sufficient – becauseThe pieces are a fact of life. In real life, usually we just take the bits are when we really need to change pieces or look beyond them the most practical solution.
Lateral thinking – Three Puzzles
Enough with the definitions. Try these three puzzles lateral thinking, however. They will tell you an idea of what the term implies, and let you practice "out of box" thinking.
