If you write, you will probably find dealing with problems. I'm not sure all the correct form of abbreviations for the placement of apostrophes. Ideally, we move to questions quickly, so you can focus on the message, not to write.
Among the tools that help us to answer questions quickly and consistently book style manuals recommend certain styles or use. They are available in a range of tastes and you should put all inhand. But more importantly, choose one and use its recommendations in a consistent manner.
This week we look at the Associated Press Style Book, a reference work useful and often cited by writers.
As the title suggests, comes from people in Associated Press (AP) wire service, and serve journalists and media writers. By contrast, the Chicago Manual of Style (still a major reference book to be called) should academics and others who write formally, and the bookwriters, editors and publishers.
AP Style Book highlights the use of commonly cited names, events, and language. For example, the murderess list that explains the proper use of three similar concepts: "murderess, murderess" and "murderess" (in case you're wondering, the AP defines a book as a politically motivated killer killer, a killer As with any motive to kill a condemned murderess as a murderess in a court).
Since journalists mustdeal with the pressures of deadlines, this book like a dictionary, with entries in alphabetical order. Each entry is short and deals with journalists face issues everyday writing.
Many entries provide a standard for capitalization, spelling, use of abbreviations and other useful information. Grammar rules can be found under headings such as "possessive".
Also, many other news organizations in the United States and other countries have their ownstyle guide. In Canada, for example, the Canadian Press style book. So if you want to write to a particular service or wire newspaper, check if they have their own driving style.
The Associated Press Style Book is available in two versions: "The Associated Press Style Book and Briefing on media legislation and The Associated Press Style Book and Defamation Act. The second is so easily accessible than the previous year. Check your library for more information.
